i found a very very old sudare wood slat painting that was so ancient the original design had nearly disappeared. so after finding it wasn't really worth anything of value i took it back home and recreated a new piece on it. my friend mitsu-san helped contribute some art supplies to it
he explained that the little bit of kanji he could read on it said "daughter" and "evening" so i used those for the new title. Sadly, this thing is a living antique and the twine is breaking and unraveling so the whole thing is a mess and this picture may very well last longer than the piece itself if i don't take care of it. it started coming undone the moment i finished.
"daughter of the evening spirits" approx. 11.5'' X 21" mixed media, including acrylic, oil paint, floating medium, calligraphy ink, silver and gold leaf on stained bamboo
